Hey,

I am new to the forum.

Recently I purchased a pair of T90E's for the front. They are similar to the M60's. To go along with the towers I bought CSi3 center channel, PSW303 Sub, and a pair of RM 101 sat's for the rear.

I already have them out of the box and set up. I think they sound good but after reading several other forums I am beginning to wonder if I should of purchased 4 bookshelves? Keep in mind I am playing both movies and music.

Can you any of you folks let me know if I totally screwed up or made a good all around purchase. This purchase also included a receiver so my funds were limited. I am looking for a blunt and honest opinion.

Thanks,
Mr. A

Here is your blunt reply. If you think they sound good, that is all that matters. Keep them & enjoy them. If later on down the line you feel something might be missing, let us know & we'll try to help you out.

There are always tweaks and upgrades that everyone wants to try eventually. But for right now just enjoy what you have. What receiver do you have to go with it?

which part of the purchase are you unsure of? the surrounds are the only thing that dont really belong there but so what, u can always upgrade those later if u feel the need.

does it sound good to u? if u like it then screw everyone else

listen to bookshelves and decide if u like them over the towers...i doubt you will, but ya never know. experiment, try new stuff, thats the only way to figure out what u want

The T90e's are not bad speakers and I believe that you probably have a pretty darn good setup for the $$$.

What would you replace them with? If it's in the same dollar range, I would rather have the floorstander, satelite, and sub setup than the 4 bookshelf, sub setup Until you can get a sub in the higher ranges (HSU, SVS, Rocket, etc...) then the bookshelfs come back in.

    My two cents...

Oh, and Rooster like the t90e's so much that he took off his pants, and well, since your new here, I'll leave it to your imagination... ;)

I bought the Denon 1905. My budget was $1500.00. I went a little over but for the most part I was close to my target.

Thanks for the quick replies. Out of curiosity what rears would you recommend?

What's your budget? To me, the RTi6's would be a solid choice but since you are using the monitor series up front, I might go with Monitor 40 or Monitor 30

My budget receiver included was $1500.00.

Edit...The M40's would be out of my price range but I could probably do the M30's. Are the 30's similar to the RM101's?

I think my main concern was could I get a better set up with bookshelves sound and quality wise with my alloted budet? Or do you think I did alright with what I had to spend?

    Mr. A :)

Well, if you can go used that opens a whole new ballgame. I got all of my current HT (Not the SVS, but the DVD player, receiver, amp, and speakes) for less than $1K. Granted I was in place for the steal on the LSi's but if you look around, these types of deals exist.

Have you only looked at BB type stores? You might want to look at some of the online companies packages. There are also some dirt cheap Athena's in the flea market that would run you $180.

Sounds like you got a good system to me. You've got a good center speaker, the Csi3 is higher up the Polk foodchain than your front L/R.

The purchase has already been done and for the most part I am happy with what I bought. It has crossed my mind about taking the rears back but I really don't have the room for a bigger speaker.

My main concern after going back and reading various forums was, are those speakers going to compliment one another.

Read Cfrizz's post, it is THE MOST important thing in this hobby. If you like the sound, then quit worrying about it. Everyone has different preferences. Also remember, someone else will always have the latest and greatest, and there will always be the guy with a budget you can't touch. Those things don't matter as long as you are happy with what you have.

Personally I prefer a setup like yours over bookshelves in all cases if you do not have another system dedicated to 2-channel.

Thanks for the replies and the advice. I think that will help settle my worries. Other then my Honda I am never comfortable with big purchases.

    Cheers!

Don't let the nuerotic tendencies of this hobby spoil your enjoyment of the music. If you like what you have, then don't sweat it....

If you do decide to get the Monitor30s, that would be an excellent choice. The 40s are nice, but you don't really need them back there, the 30s will work fine...
