I currently use RT10 floorstanding speakers circa 1998 with a CS245 center channel. Would I benefit by upgrading to the R50's for my fronts? I really need some help on this. Thanks.

If you wanna upgrade, you'll have to go with the Lsi series.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Thanks for the info. Can anyone explain to me why the R50's are not an upgrade? I just thought that with the dual woofers they would have a fuller sound than my RT10's. Anyway I guess I will save some money. Thanks again.

    As I understand the polk nomenclature: LS > RT > Monitor> R

    Lessor drivers

Thanks Maniac, thought the R and Monitor were the same line, my bad

Yeah, the R series is no match for the RTi series...

Just listen to both the RTi10s and the R50s, you'll understand quickly enough.

I think the lines now would look something like LSi > RTi > Monitor > R

The R50's have lower quality drivers than the RT10's. Don't worry about how many drivers a speaker has. That is not an indicator of quality.

    NEVER sell those RT10s!!! NEVER!

They use the famed tweeter from the RT5 and the famed woofer from the RT7 - should be about the perfect loudspeaker!

*never* sell them unless they like catch on fire, get sawed in half, etc etc...
