Suggestion for rear surround speaker

I currently have the following setup;

Receiver - Denon AVR-1705
Satellites/centre - RM6200
Sub - PSW303

(See second attached image in http://clubpolk.polkaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24769 for room layout).

I know the layout of my room isn't ideal, and I know that my front speakers are currently too close together. That will be resolved soon.

In the mean time, I'm thinking of getting some rear surround speakers and would appreciate some suggestions.

As you can see from the diagram, I'm a bit limited in terms of positioning the rear speaker(s). The dimensions of the room are as follows;

Length (bottom wall up to chimney stack/fireplace) : 12ft
Width (left wall to bay-window wall) : 14ft
Height : 9ft

Due to the split seating arrangement, i.e. the door between the two sofas, I was thinking that the best location for the rear speakers would be in the corner above the door, one pointing towards each sofa.

So, what does the forum command? :-)

Cheers,

Phil

    What I forgot to ask was, what speakers does the forum recommend to;

    (a) match my rm6200 & psw303, and
    (b) match the room layout

    Many thanks,

    Can you still get singles for this series from Polk or off ebay? Or are you looking for different speakers to compliment, but not necessarily match. Sorry you haven't got more help from people so far. Keep asking and you will get more answers.

    I'm not sure, I've not really tried - I assumed I couldn't. I'm in the UK so am limited to what is available - Polk aren't really sold in commercial hi-fi shops here.

    I've just done a search on eBay (UK) and there are a few Polk speakers but not really what I am looking for.

    I suppose I'm after both really, a speaker, or speakers, that compliment (timbre) and match (style). I'm ideally after a single speaker - I have a single pair of L/R rear outputs on the amp.

    It would be nice if they were Polk, but will consider other makes if I have to.

    I don't really want to spend much more than £150 (US$270) - that may sound like a lot but hi-fi kit retails for more in the UK than in the US. :-(

    Cheers,

    Phil

    I am not sure exactly where in the UK you are located, but Polk list the following as a Polk distributor.

    Teklink Distribution Ltd.
    68 St. John Street
    London, EC1M 4DT, Great Britain
    Phone: 44-20-77025277
    Fax: 44-20-72512487
    info@teklinkdistribution.com

    I am in Canada & have purchase a number of audio items from the US. The price + duty + shipping + exchange are often far less than purchasing the item in Canada. Sorry I cannot address your primary question, but hope this is of assistance.

    Thanks for the contact details, I've already contacted them (today) and asked them to see if they can find a speaker to meet my requirements.

    Michael - which US web sites did you purchase stuff from?

    Cheers,

    Phil,

    I have been purchasing from eBay.

    Yamaha RX-V1500
    2 - RTi38's
    1 - CSi5

    I am actually looking for some decent cables, but have not found any suitable lengths at my price.

    Here are 2 other audio sites that sell gear. I have not found anything there myself, but you may have some luck.

    1) Audiogon

    2) Canuck Audio Mart
