Ok, I just bought a 1993 Ford Ranger. No aftermarket HU, so my old system can't be transfered yet. I'm working right now, but I can take a walk down to the other end of the mall to get one. I'm stuck onto which one to get, so give me your thoughts. I had the DEH-960MP, was nice, loved it but don't wanna spend that much again. I'm between the DEH-860MP, and the DEH-P8MP, costing me $350 and $275 respectivly. I love the display on both, but the main thing that I'm stuck on is if I want the auto-ta and -eq. Thoughts quickly would be great, it's 7:00, and the mall closes at 9:30.

Well this is kind of late but Ill say if you are capable of spending the $350 and are the type that would utilize all its features Id say go with that one.

If youre more of a plug and play man then go with the cheaper one.

Its my guess you wouldnt go wrong with either one.

Ok, so you guys were too slow...:D :p . I picked up the P8, they didn't have my wire harness, so I'll be picking that up in the morning. The HU, harness, and tax came to a grand total of...$299.45. The only thing that was really holding me up was if I wanted the auto-ta and -eq again. Nice features, but I can deal with out them I guess. Plus I think that if I went for the more expensive one, my girlfriend would've really been pissed. I was able to calm her down bout this one, hehe.

    Good deal!

I think my next head unit is gonna be a Pioneer. My Alpine looks awesome and all but Its got a couple little quirks Im not happy about and I keep hearing people having build quality problems with their h/u's. Plus Ive been impressed lately with Pioneers head units.

My first head unit back in the day were Pioneer cassette players and I liked them a lot. I havent used Pioneer in about 12 years so its time I give em another try.

On top of all that, I think this is one of the best looking h/u's Ive seen!

I dunno if youve ever seen it in person, but the display is really sharp looking, absolutly awesome. It wouldve been in already, but they didn't have my wire harness, and the one they got for me today, was opened, and had two of the same pieces, rather then 2 different ones. So I'm running to Walmart after work for the harness and dash kit. Then I'm off tomorrow so I'll throw the rest of my stuff in there I hope. Im trying to figure out how I want everything in there though...any thoughts? 1993 ford ranger super cab....

Is that the one you bought?

If so, where are the track + / - buttons and so forth? Its not one of those that you have to use the remote for everything is it? I hate using the remote cause I never can remember where its at!

Yeah, that's the one I got. It's not in yet, but I've used it before. The volume control also acts kinda like a joystick, so you can press it to the left, right, up or down. If I remember right, that's one way of going back and forth between tracks.

I woulda gone with the 8600MP if it was $350 new that would have been a good price. The one you bought is nice though the giant volume knob contorls everything.

I know it would've been a good price, I had the 960 for $400, sold that cause I needed $$$ for school. Figured that I haven't seen this one around as much, so I'll be different.
