Pre amp Question

Can somebody tell me if a $500 pre amp is (Marsh)
is going to make that much of a dfference over a $200 unit (parasound)....

I realize the build quality is going to be better , but is it worth the
huge jump in price ?

I`ll be using Rotel RB980Bx`s , probably Bi-amped, with my RT2000i`s..

Maybe all my rti`s, and Carvers also on a HT setup....

    I can't answer the pre amp question, but I've got a comment about running the Rotel's bridged. They will get hot, very hot when bridged, so make sure they have plenty of space around them and do not stack anything on top of them.

    Don't buy audio gear based on price alone. It's essentially irrelevant beyond a certain price/quality point. There are far too many variables to consider to determine whether or not a Parasound pre (I assume you're referring to the PHP 850) will sound better, worse or the same as the Marsh. Depends on your taste, interconnects, speakers, amp, room, speaker cables, etc. So you'll just have to try them both.

    I`m almost there if I was to actualy listen to what she`s been sayin`!

    I`ve been trying to go "up" a step or two for a while now, it`s just hard not to go too far $$$ wise without gettin` in over my head...

    Credit cards are gettin` pretty warm , but not at the melting stage yet...

    Besides... I have a couple real cool amps headin` my way soon :D

    I need a good pre amp so I can enjoy....

    Might have to start living in the garage pretty soon though...

    Hmmmm......did you get the M60's? If so, neither of those pre amps are going to do them justice, IMHO.

    Honestly, I know nothing about the Marsh gear other than a forum member who had the SS pre and amp. He sold them rather quickly. In that price range (used) you might want to look at offerings from CJ, BAT and Cary.

    My Dad was into tubes, but he passed away before I got a chance to learn what time it was...

    He liked to build his own stuff sometimes..
