I'd get the Rti8s. IMO they are the best sounding speaker in that line, especially if you're going to add a sub...

As for the sub, you can't go wrong with SVS, email them with your room size and requirements, and they'll help you choose the model best for you.

If you do ecide to go with the 12s, then you'll need a separate amp to get decent performance out of them, I always reccomend Parasound, maybe the HCA 1500A...

    Hope this helps...

Whats up dtek? I have the same Onkyo as you and I had the RTi8s at first and they sounded great with my sub. I like to play jazz without a sub and only towers in stereo mode. For this, the RTi8s were not good to me. I ended up with the RTi10s and they are what I was looking for. They sounded very well with the 601 Onkyo and are my current mains in my HT set up. I know that the RTi10s can give me more than I am sending through them, but it does fine for me. Awesome with a sub.:D Just my little opinion from actual experience. Good luck and I hope you find what you need. That Onkyo would not be powerful enough for the RTi12s. If you don't mind using your sub all the time then the RTi8s would be your best bet. They are great with high to lower mids. Not enough on the lower end to sound good without a sub (in my opinion).

    Hey dtek. Welcome.

I also have the 601. I'm sure you already know this but the 601 has only a sub preout. So you will not be able to run an external amp to power these larger speakers ( 10's and 12's) to their fullest.
I went with a svs pc+ on the recommedation of several polkies and am really happy. Although there are lots of others I haven't heard.

It does good enough for now, but I want an SVS when I am able to afford one. Nope, It is no where near as good as an SVS, but it does the job. I am satisfied for the time being.

I am very happy with it for now. It is pretty loud, but one of my friends has the 801 pushing the same speakers. There is a difference in sound, but not enough to make me want to get rid of it.:D I am happy with my set-up. I don't need all of that other crap to try to out sound others. The answer is, "what you like." No one has ever came by and said, " you need a louder receiver", or "that doesn't sound right", I know that the speakers can give me more, but for now, I am very content with my current set-up. My January upgrades include a CSi5 center speaker for sure. My distant future upgrades include: Sony or Hitachi 51" WS RPTV, SVS, and a receiver with more power. That will be later on down the line.

What have you decided to do about speakers?

Mjr7531, I kind of wish I could find a Csi5 and some matching surrounds for my pair of Rti12.

I have a pair of Rt55, Cs400i and Rt35 for surrounds in my bedroom system. I just got the pair of Rti12 for a stereo only rig to eventually replace my current powered towers in that system as soon as I get enough power for them. I wonder if the Csi400 and the older Rti would match the newer series in a full on surround system?
