recently got into brewing my own beer, inherited some kegging equip and a jockey box and a couple other odds and ends. 1st batch was a HefeWeizen came out pretty good. Would say mix between a Paulaner meets Tucher with a slight bitter at the end. Brewed up a Belguim Double Ale (7%) last Monday and is almost done with fermintation should have just in time for new years. Thanks for whoever invented force carbination :) So anyone else partake in this hobby? Looking forward to getting some recipes or swap some tips...

I've toyed with the idea of doing that. My gf did some homemade hard cider... tasted pretty crappy, but had some major kick to it.

But first I need to play around with my home made hot sauce kit.... yum!

its pretty easy so far...no worries of bottleing...I recommed a book called The New Complete Joy of Homebrewing by author Charlie Papazian...killer book, breaks it down easy and in stages.

Sounds like a fun hobby (like I need ANOTHER ONE!)

Can you keep production on track with demand? ;)

I like to drink it, not make it.

A recent fav is the North Coast Brewing Co's. Old Stock Ale. A very, very hoppy brew with an abv of 11.4%. Even though it got a very high abv it's one of the few that doesn't taste it.

There is a place just down the street from me on Main St. here in HB that brews your beer for you. You go in, pick everything out and they brew it up. They'll put any label on the bottle you'd like as well. Doing that would be as close as I'll ever get to home brewing.

That depends on how much effort you want to put in it......a 'normal' batch will yield me about (18) 16oz bottles and it takes about 3 weeks from start to finish.....

It's fun and you can make some GREAT beer but it's tedious, will stink up your house when you cook the wort (if you can do it on an outside cooker, like a turkey fryer burner, it's a bonus) and time consuming. The key to making good beer is sanitation. EVERYTHING MUST be sanitized or else your beer will taste like crap.

It's a lot of fun but I just don't have the time for it much of the time.

my moto is relax and have a homebrew while you brew...i got it down to 2 weeks from start to drink since i force carbonate..Bout 3 hours of cook and clean up time and i dont know about you but i love the smell of the wort cooking...also a wort chiller will do wonders getting the temp down quick.

I've done it a few times with limited success. I'm too cheap to buy the good ingredients. Its much easier for me to just go to the liquor store.
