Subwoofer wiring w/o cables

I am trying to hook up a PSW202 to an older Sony reciever that does not have a subwoofer out connection. I have hooked the speaker inputs on the PSW2020 to the same terminals that handle the main speakers outs on the reciever. Is this right? Alternatively, can I run the tape monitor outs RCA connectors through a Y cable to the PSW202? Which is prefereable?

    Welcome to the Polk forum.

The way you have it hooked up is fine. You can try your other suggestion, but I think you will have better results from the speaker level inputs. Hope this helps. Enjoy your new sub.

Groz, as Zach indicated, with your present receiver that speaker wire connection to transmit the signals(essentially zero power is used)is the best that you can do. It wouldn't be a good idea to use the tape monitor outputs since the volume control on your receiver doesn't vary the tape monitor output and every time that you changed the volume level the sub level would stay the same unless you manually changed it.

I concur with the other individuals.....use the speaker level input method for your application.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
