Sorry for the rant...but this is something that really pissed me off...
My dad is an electrician. He is in charge of the people who go out and tend to all the power lines who service a lot of rural south texas. well it snowed here yesterday. a lot...10 inches in some place. it hasnt snowed here in over 30 years so its a really big deal. well, the trees which had so much snow on them had come down 4' and the power lines also tightened up. this put a lot of people out of power. my dad left christmas eve around 11 am to go help all his people out in the freezing snow. we opened our christmas presents last night without him. he came back 12 oclock this afternoon. hadnt slept at all and his last meal was a single burrito from a gas station around 3 am, before that was breakfast the previous day. so what do the little ungrateful **** do after they got their electricity on? they call the electric coop and COMPLAIN that they had their power off. wtf?
people are working outside when its literally freezing, getting no sleep or food, missing christmas with their families and people have the nerve to complain. merry christmas to you too **** holes

Your dad provided a great service to those in need. Like all cival servants, I am certain that he didn't do it for gratitude - but, strictly out of a sense of service to his community. I am grateful for all who keep society going properly.

I'm kinda lucky I guess, I spent the better part of Chirstmas Eve running "no Heat" calls, went out on some more on Christmas Day, but my customers were apologetic for having pulled me away from my family. No complaints, which is really nice. Some people just don't grasp the fact that repairs are not made by robots. They are made by people that have families too. Chalk it up to poor manners and move on. Those people won't change and probably don't care anyway.
