Thinking about Polk speaker systems for both HT and music:
Main: LSi25
Center: LSiC
Surround: LSi15
Back: LSi9
Sub: PSW505

Will have separate amps to drive these. Reasonable setup? Overkill? Suggestion, recommendation appreciated.

I guess the first question to be asked is how big is your room? You'll definetly have a great sounding system but you might want to consider using LsiFX's for the sides, they will offer a more difused soundstage than a direct radiating speaker. Unless your room is huge the 9's might be a bit too much for rear channel duty. A pair of 7's might work out better, they can be wall mounted without adding any special mounts. The 9's will require a shelf or a rather substantial mounting system due to their weight.

I'd wait on adding a sub until you get everything else hooked up. You may find that the 25's are adequate for your needs. Why spend the cash unless you have too.

Seperate amps are fine, but don't rule out a single 7 channel amp. There are some great pieces of equipment out there that will do a fantastic job driving those speakers. Have you given any thought to what Pre-amp to use? How about a budget to work with for the amps and preamp?

    Thanks,
    Room ~ 20x25.
    Possible gears from Parasound:
    Controller: C1/C2
    Amps: A51 and A21

    Match well with Polks?
    BTW, your HT rocks!!!

    Thank you!!

Parasound makes some great gear, but don't limit yourself to one brand. Check out some of the stuff from Classe', Anthem, ATI, Sherwood, Adcom, Nad, and even Outlaw. I know auditioning can be difficult but it really is time well spent. For the kind of investment your making I feel it's well worth the effort.

Your room is pretty darn big, but I'd still recommend LsiFX's and 7's for the rear.

Sub wise, have you considered any others? Lots of folks here don't care to much for the Polk subs, unless it's an LsiW. Your sub selection choices are going to be just as varied as your speaker/electronics options are. Obviouslty form and function are considerations that need to be addressed. WAF may be an issue as well. I'm a big fan of Sunfire, others will undoubtedly chime in with their favorite brand(s) as well. Velodyne, REL, HSU, & Revel are just a few that might be of interest.

Hi vn, One more thing you could do is to put the lsi15's in the front and like Frank suggested using the lsiXF for the side surround and the 7's for the rears. The 15's would would be just fine as long as you get a decent sub to go along with your system. I have never heard the 505 so cannot comment on it. If dvd-a or sacd is in your future than the lsi9's might be an option for the rears. My 2 cents.
I like your parasound choices btw.:)

How do I like it? It provides a disturbing amount of deep and clean bass. I guess I love it.

Just one, but it's more than enough for me.

15' x 12' with an opening to the dining room and an 18' vaulted ceiling.

    Good luck.

I have really been looking into the SVS line , and I am very impressed with what I hear (on the forum) and read.

    My choices have come down to ;
    Box type, PB12 -ISD/2 or PB12 Plus/2
Cylinder type, 20-39 PC Ultra (powered) or CS ultra (passive).

I keep wondering if having the amp inside the tube affects the air flow as compared to the external amp.

I`m sure they all hit hard and sound better than I have expierenced.

My room is 14x24 ,w/8-10 vaulted roof...
I`m sure any one of these will be more than enough !!

I still am not sure which one to go with...

The PB 12/2 + or w/e they call it will have about a 3-4db output advantage in all areas over the CS and PC Ultra...

However the PC/CS Ultra will provide plenty of bass, and may be more accurate...

My DOD has a PC Ultra, and it can fill up a 35x35x9-12 area with plenty of bass (once calibrated to get the lowest response possible in that room)...

If you are mostly movies, the PB 12/2 + or w/e, music mostly... the PC/CS Ultra
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
