Which on is better. I cannot tell they both get good reviews but the MMC6500 is $100 more expensive is it worth the extra money or should i stick with the MM6. Let me know what you think thanks

MM6 is Polk's current Top-of-the-Line. It's on clearance at sounddomain.com since it will be replaced sometime next year with a new model. Now is a Great time to buy a set. I'd definitely recommend them over the MMC6500's.

Hmmm... you could be right. However, the MMC6500's handle 25 watts less power, don't look as cool(imo), are 1/4" smaller, and have the tweet mounted right on the grill. I thought the momo carbon series was just a step behind the MM6 comps?

That's the MMC650 coaxials. The MMC6500 is the component system.

Yeah, that's what I thought, but looking at the small picture, it looked like the tweet was mounted in the middle of the grille. Looking at the big picture, I can now see that it's just the dust cap peeking through. However, the profile pic right below clearly shows a tweet mounted on the grille. It might, however, be a picture of the MMC650's.

My other statements are still true though, right? What's your stance on this Josh?

The MMC6500 is now the Polk TOTL since the MM6 is now RIP.

I haave owned both the MM6 and the Carbon (MMC690) and I can say the MMC6500 is the better speaker. Im a little disappointed in the MM6. Its a much heavier duty speaker in both power handling and construction but the MMC6500 simply sounds better.

On top of that the x-over is much more flexible.

If money is a concern the $160 for the MM6 on SoundDomain cannot be beat but if you can swing $300 then get the MMC6500.

I'll let Justin know about the picture problem. I guess that could be confusing.

The MM6's were TOTL about a year ago. They were replaced by the MMC6500 system. SD.com is trying to sell through their current stock of discontinued product. Those speakers were $350 retail when they were introduced. The MM6 has a larger driver (6.75") as apposed to the MMC6500 (6.5"). It's also a little deeper, but the bass response (if you have them installed well) is better because of the larger mid driver. The MMC6500 is bi-ampable, whereas the MM6 was not. You really just have to do a side-by-side comparison of the two to see which suits you best.

Would the mids of the MM6 work better in an enclosure?

My door panels have huge holes all over them and are about as air tight as a screen door so theyre literally running free air! I know most mids are designed to work in free air but would an enclosure of some kind help the MM6's performance?

Im not ready yet to blame the speakers for my disappoinment as its much more likely installer error, so Im open to suggestions.
