I have owned a Polk SW10 for about two months now and have noticed alot of people posting threads on it not being magnetically shielded. I have a Toshiba 50" front projection TV and have my SubWoofer sitting right next to it. I haven't noticed any problems at all with it being Magnetically not shielded but should i have it moved or does it make a difference using a projection TV. Thans for any info.

If you are having a problem with the unshielded sub, it would be most likely the color of the TV being pulled out of the TV.

The only time I have seen the effect, it looked as if the green was being sucked from the scene and was puddling in a rainbow effect on the edge of the screen. If that makes sense.

Distance is your friend. If you don't notice a problem, give yourself another inch or two, and you should be safe.
Do I really look like I know what I am doing?

Rear Projection TVs (I assume that is what you meant instead of Front) are not affected as much. Because they have three 7"->9" tubes (red, green and blue), usually towards the front center of the TV leaving space to the sides.

If you are getting an effect from the sub-woofer, it would probably show up as a convergence problem with the color (red, green or blue) that is closest to the sub-woofer. If you want to test whether you have a problem or not, bring up the convergence grid, and then move the sub away, and see if there is any differance.

    Reaper,
Thanks for the info. I performed the test you suggested and see no problems at all. Moved the sub right next to the TV while both the tv and sub were on and functioning and saw no difference. Thanks again for the input. By the way you were correct it is a Rear projection Toshiba.

    Hello-
Are you pleased with the sound from this subwoofer?
I'm considering one for use with a 5 speaker RM6200 setup.
    Thanks.

    Keith,
I am very pleased with sw10 especially in the Home Theatre Arena but i have to say I would get somebody elses opinion on Music because I am not a "BASS" Man I prefer Good Music where Bass is not that prevalent and highs and mids are. Thanks.
