Does a Alpine MRV-F450 give enough juice to power mmc6500?

I just installed a premier DEH-P860mp in my 00 Honda Civic Si. I was debating between the mmc 6500 and db 6500 for the front. Now I hear the mmc6500 sound better however I really don't want to spend more then 350 for an amp. The Alpine MRV-F450 is right up my alley. It is a 5 channal amp (50x4 and 200x1). I am goung to put db 6x9's in the back, plz don't try and talk me out of the 6x9's, and a sub in the trunk. is this amp going to be enough to power the mmc6500? If not should I just go for the db 6500? Thank-You for your time.

I don't think I'd use rear speakers in there, but obviously you want to.....so, ok.

No. If you're going to use the rear two channels for the 6x9's and just the front two channels for the MMC6500s, then, no. I'm not sure that'd be enough for the db6500s, either. However, it'd be fine if you were going to use all four channels and bi-amp the fronts.

Maybe I should just listen to everyone and not go with the 6x9's. It just seems like wasted space. So the mmc 6500 up front and a subwoofer in the trunk would be enough? Is 200x1 enough for a subwoofer? Any thoughts on this alpine amp? I am new to this stuff so thank-you for your suggestions.

To me, rear speakers are for passengers only. If you want to go with 6x9s, your sound wont suck its just that the best SQ will always be achieved with front speakers only. Having too many speakers playing the same frequencies at different distances can smear the detail.

200 watts is fine for a sub for like a pickup cab but if youre going to put it in the trunk I would recommend a little more grunt.

Check out this MTX amp. Its $350 and puts out an easy 85x4 cleanly.

Here's what ya do. Get the MMC6500's and run them off the front channels of this amp. Thats an underrated 85 watts so itll be just right. Then you get the MM2124 12" sub and bridge the rear channels to run it. Thats 85x2 to the front and 340x1 to the sub. Now this wont vibrate the windows out of the car next to you but it will sound very good in your car.

Ok I do like your suggestion but instead of the mtx what about a Alpine MRV-F540?

Well, the 540 is a damn fine amp but when you bridge the rear channels youre back at 200 watts again which I just dont believe will be enough.

If youre wanting to stick with the V12 amp, and they are about my favorite amps so I dont blame ya, then Id suggest doing it right.

Keep the aforementioned Polk speakers and sub and use the T320 (80x2) for your front stage and the M301 (350x1) for the sub which would now be the MM2124DVC. That would be a much better match for those components.

If however youre wanting to stick with a single amp setup and come in under $350 then that MTX is gonna be hard to beat. MTX Thunder amps are among the best on the market. They aint that flashy but theyre built like tanks and make tons of clean power with awesome headroom.

Mac, his Civic is an Si, which is a hatchback. There is no 'trunk'; just a rear area. I'm not sure, but that may mean that 200 watts is enough.....

DAMMIT!! You just lost credibility. The '00 Si was a coupe, hence the 6x9's in the rear deck. The Si hatch started again in 2001. There were older hatch Si's also. I believe the years were 88-91 and 92-95. Somebody jump in if I'm wrong.

thank-You for all your help you guys rock, I did own a 86 si so I don't think 88 was their first year. Well I do want to stick with the one amp solution so mtx it probobly will be. Now I have to do this in one month intervels unless I win the lottery next week. So can my deck run the front components for a month before I get the amp? And what If I decided to spend a extra 100 and get the mtx thunder 1004? Would that be over kill?

It could be. The 1004 is "rated" at 125x2 + 500x1 but in real world numbers thats gonna be more along the lines of 160x2 + 600x1.

The other thing would be there really isnt a sub in Polks arsenal that could take that kind of power except for the DVC subs which wont work with this amp.

Id say go with the 684. It is a near perfect match power wise to both the MMC6500 and the MM2124.
