A friend of mine owns a PSW250 sub., he bought it as a shelf model from circuit city about 2 months ago. He's been trying to figure out why it hums constantly? and is that normal? It's connected to an onkyo amp. and 5 polk satellites, He claims that everything is connected correctly. Can anyone help...?? Thanks.

Hi:
Disconnect all signal inputs to the sub. If the hum goes away either the connection is wrong or the receiver has a problem. If it is still there try a different ac outlet. If that stops the hum you will need to get a power conditioner or use a different ac outlet. If none of the above cures the problem you have a problem with the sub.

does it have a 3 wire wall plug ?
if so try a ground adapter plug ( the one with the green wire hanging off) this will allow the ground wire to not be attached .
Ground hum is a major problem in pro sound amps they even have a ground lift switch to "open ground" -
