OK, my "new" speakers for the front soundstage on my HT system arrived today -- a pair of Rega Naos and an Ascend Acoustics center channel. These replaced a pair of Polk RTi10's and a Csi40. I bought these speakers to get a better quality sound, and boy, I tell ya, these deliver. First, the Regas have more bass and are much more musical than the 10's. They sound more airy and have a lot more detail as well. The bass is supposed to go down to 25 Hz from a single 8 inch midrange/woofer driver. When I put on my T2 DVD to test it out, I got bass all over the place. The center channel is equally impressive. Still need to calibrate and allow the center channel to break in, but so far I'm pleased with the results.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Yet another polkie with no polks...

Glad things worked out for you! How's the Soundstage with three different types of speakers in different positions?
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

Great. Timbre matching is a bit over rated, IMO. If it sounds good, it is good.

Just finished calibrating the system. Couldn't detect any timbre matching problems at all. The sound was too harsh before I zapped it with the SPL meter, now it's as smooth as J. Lo's bottom.
