Headphone interface help?

My current preamp doesn't have a headphone jack, but I'd like to add a headphone output. Does anyone make a "box" that connects to preamp outs for the purpose of connecting headphones? I know there's dedicated headphone amps, but I'm looking for a simple converter of some kind...

    A headphone amp is about as simple as it gets. Do you mean cheaper, smaller, battery powered? I'll bet there is a headphone amp out there somewhere meant for boosting power out of the cheapie mp3 players or cd players. Sorry, don't know of any particular ones.

    I think you're right, looks like a headphone amp is about the only way. My CD Player has a headphone jack, but the level control is manual, which means getting up all the time to change volume. I'd rather run something thru my pre so that I can use the remote volume control.

    I was checking that out. I think I'll just scope ebay for the Creek headphone amp, it has a remote volume control.

    Well there is a workaround, Sennheiser makes a headphone extension cord with volume control (HZR62)...$29 bucks. Cool.
