If most Recievers (if not all) just have a single plug in the back of them then why does the sub have a R and L on the back of them and not justa single plug?

some people run preouts to a sub i think...
-
Can u run perout - sub in, then sub out to amp in?- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

If the subwoofer has the rca outputs for it. I remember that was one of the hookup options on my PSW650, but I didn't have a receiver with main-in.
-
my dad used the preouts on his receiver to give a signal to the sub....didnt sound great and distorted fast....the lfe on my receiver was much better, but im willing to bet he didnt have it setup right

The L & R Inputs allow you to input both channels (stereo), then the amp internally sums them to a mono signal.

When using the preamp out of the receiver use a y connector to connect it to both. I find it makes the sub sound much more powerful.LIVE LOUD, ROCK HARD!!!

Thats because the y-splitter gives it a 3db boost of signal...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Grab the subwoofer cable and connect it to the receiver's preamp out, then connect a y-splitter on the end you're going to connect it to the sub on and connect the 2 ends of the y-splitter to the L and R terminals on the back of the sub.
Hope this helps.LIVE LOUD, ROCK HARD!!!

What is the best y- connector to buy, and where is the best place to purchase one of these wires?
-
I like monster cable but get one thats made by the same company as your sub cable, and just buy it wherever they sell it, remember you get what you pay for you dont wanna buy the cheapest cables and connecters. Keep in mind i'm no pro at this stuff.LIVE LOUD, ROCK HARD!!!

It doesn't matter which interconnect you use, they all work with each other fine. I would not suggest Monster, they are the Bose of the cable world, except with an out of control legal department, just check the Clubhouse.

Signal Cable makes Y-Splitters in any format you wish....you just have to ask. Here is a Signal Cable Analog2(F2M) version:
