Well I had nothing to do and Russ is sending me 2 extra woofers, which I also plan to cut holes in my subwoofer so I can have Quad woofs!!!

But, I made these for a smaller subwoofer or a possible two way (with a different woofer) in the future...

I have made alot of projects in 8-9 weeks...

1) AmpraSid Black Lab (2)
2) AmpraSid CompuS (2)
3) AmpraSid JigSaw (1)
4) AmpraSid Quadro (2)
5) AmpraSid Gothic V1 (Prototype) (2)
6) Russ's Speakers (2)
7) A Gate (for my mom) (1)
8) Something to hold dog dishes (1)

Total - 13 projects! Darn right!

Ok, what the heck are all those? not all speakers right?

Are the quadros using 4 mids and a ribbon? It looked like you hade the box cut for that.

No, the Quadro uses 4 full range drivers....

And it has one huge slot port

Basically I took the CompuS design (uses same drivers) and turned it on its side...and stacked it 4 times...

That's a lot of projects in a short time. You sure aren't lazy! So how do they sound, that's the bottom line. Do you think they compare well with average commercial speakers? Anyway, just wanted to say you're very talented and creative. Good for you.

Trey, when it's time for college, you might consider a major in Electrical Engineering. You already have a good head start with the speaker designs.

Thanks KingTut - may be an option except I am absolutely horrid in math...hehe

I have only heard the Black Lab and CompuS thus far...

The Black Lab, I would take it over any 120 dollar speaker on the market new, absolutely amazing musical performer...seperation, detail, etc - terrific.

The CompuS - well it is meant for a small area (computer speakers) - but they also sound pretty decent for what they are as well. I designed these on my own...

Now if Russ would send me the parts! :p

    Thanks for all the replies/comments

Just curious, how many of those projects were your "last" project? :)

Interestingly enough, I'm building my own speakers, I'd to buy my own MDF though, a 4'x8' sheet for $50. Have fun with your projects,

$50 for a sheet of MDF??? <$20 at Home Depot for 3/4". Hope that was a typo :)

The wood I used in these projects were 1" Pine. The Black Lab uses 3/4" MDF - it was the project I 'turned in' -

And yep, it costs 20 bucks

How big a sheet? I wanna know if need to bang my head against a wall. (It will be a very high grade of MDF though...)

Could it be that he used 1" MDF instead? Could be the reason for the higher price.

Then again, you could "sandwich" two sheets of 3/4" together for a stronger and heavier cabinet - for less money. :)

4'x8'. This price was as of this past summer or a bit before... so who knows what the economy of MDF has done since then ;) This isn't very high grade stuff though. You might have to look through the pile to find something that isn't warped.

I've heard the "optimal" wood to use is marine grade baltic birch. I believe (and I could be completely wrong), that goes for $50 for a 4x8 sheet.

I seem to remember 1" MDF wasn't a drastic price jump from the 3/4".
