Anyone watch this last night? I ended up watching it last night but the only problem I had was it was late and the everyone else was asleep. From what volume I had it at it seems the DTS soundtract for this movie was kick ****. I thought the PQ was excellent also. Hoping to fire it up again sometime this weekend but I building my father some DVD shelves for X-mas so I'll probably be tied up with them. He'll be able to store well over 2000+ DVD's know.

Can you say "Infrasonic bass!" in the opening credits??!!!?

Wow! I know there is definitely <20Hz here because it sounds like somebody is hitting my back wall. DTS pwns!

PQ is pretty darn good too, which was suprising to me since there is a DTS track, DD track, commentary, Spanish Dolby Surround, French Dolby surround tracks taking up space. Sure there is some compression here and there, but not too bad.

I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the movie, however, I think I'll watch intro about ten more times.

I just watched it for the first time tonight and on my 34" tube (which loves to show off imperfections), the movie looked very cartoonish at times. Did not look as good CG wise as LOTR. Don't get me wrong, it looked amazing but definitely had a cartoon feel...

Blind purchase and a good one to boot! I need to watch it again this weekend and pay more attention to the sound, I kinda got wraped up on the story the first time around.

Know what you mean Frank, the second time around I always see and hear things I missed from being caught up in the story line. Sometimes I really think I enjoy the second viewing more.

I picked this one up and I'll watching it tonight. I'll try to leave my brain at the door. I'm not a fan of Will Smith's acting so we'll see what happens. There's a new movie with him in it that actually looks really good because it fits his personality more I feel.

Will is a good actor, or he wouldn't get these roles.(IMO) I am sure he will get more roles. You can't leave your brain at the door on this one. Trust me. The only way you can know Will's personality is to know Will. I guess you went to school with him?

No, I actually have watched pretty much all of his movies and Ii'm not ready to call him a great actor yet. There are some movies I've really enjoyed his work in, others that I thought he was a total ****. Maybe it's because I love the Fresh Prince and still can't take him seriously. Or maybe it's the corny one liners?

Am I allowed to have my own opinions and remained unconvinced of his acting range until I see something I really like? Could this movie change my opinions? Maybe, that's why I bought it!!

He didn't say Will Smith's not a good actor, he said he didn't LIKE his acting. Big difference. I agree that Will Smith certainly has a definitive acting STYLE that one might refer to as a "personality" even though none of us obviously know his true personality. Certain movies definitely do seem to fit him better than others, at least in my opinion. I haven't yet seen I,Robot so I'm not sure where that one fits in :)

Well said - It's not like he's the caliber of DeNiro who can literally pull off just about any role as convincing. There are many actors who fall into the same category as Will that need to stick within their 'niche' to come across as believable on screen......IMO

Well, Will Smith always plays the same character when it comes down to it. Bad Boys, Independance Day, MIB, Enemy of the State, I Robot... they are essentially the same character. I like him, but he seems limited in his role ability so far. Maybe he'll prove us wrong some day.

Although, when you think about it, Harrison Ford (one of my favorites) doesn't have a whole lot of diversity in his roles overall.

Someone like Val Kilmer on the other hand... the guy has done some seriously different stuff. Willow, Top Gun, The Doors, Batman, Ghost in the Darkness, Tombstone, The Saint... some major role diversity there.

Notice my RTA only goes down to 10Hz. There are other scenes in the movie that hit 90db+ at 10Hz on the same scale and volume levels as above. I am 100% sure the content goes <10Hz. Tom at SVS is supposed to get some i Robot waterfalls up soon.

After you listen to i Robot on your system (assuming its infrasonic capable) I have a very good feeling you'll like it even more than f'n Irene (I own BHD superbit also).

Of course you are allowed to have your own opinion. So am I. Like I mentioned earlier that he will keep getting roles. That is how it goes, the actors get role that they are suited to play. I am not saying Will is a Deniro or any thing, but he is good at what role he is given. Give the man his props. He must be doing something right. But if you feel that way, I apologize for seeming a little harsh in my comments, but I just was stating my opinion as well. Can I not do that? Well, as far as his personality goes, he is a joker, a funny man, and those are the roles that he plays best. He has been versatile some in movies like "Ali", "Enemy of the State", and ID just to name a few. But he is good not great but, he is not bad (IMO) either. I didn't mean to sound defensive or like I was jumping you, but I am just doing like you Stating my opinion. That definetly doesn't make you wrong or me right.:D

This is honestly why this board can suck sometimes. Anything for someone to think they're 'right' on a completely subjective thing. There are people here who agree with me. You jumped all over me for making rather mild comments about Will's acting. There are also people who agree with you. Give it a rest, because there is no right or wrong. It's my opinion, it's your opinion, and it's the opinions of others. There was no need for you to make any rude comments.

    *edit*

I also think that since I shelled out the $15 for this film I have every right to critique it in a sensible manner as well.

I saw that it stopped at ten, just the ignal dropped like a rock after 25Hz so I doubted that there would be another fundemental below 10Hz.

As for system capabilities, I do FEEL the "ghost" cannonball in Master and Commander so I think I'll be Ok when I can re-assemble the system again...

    Thanks for the heads up...

I watched it tonight with my four-year old grand daughter, I liked it, thought the soundtrack was good as most have said.

She just could not understand how a robot could be "bad", in her little world robots are good. I told her only the ones with the red looking light on their chest were bad. Big mistake cuz then she wanted to know if ET was bad cuz he has a heartlight and kept this up for the rest of the movie. :(

    I like the robots.

    The chick was cute.

I just got through watching this movie...

A great movie, excellent story - IMO...

And once the action started, it was pretty good...

I even liked the civil war style fighting there for a second...very nice...

Excellent movie, and Will Smith's witty humor of a run-of-the-mill cop settled in fine with the movie I thought...

A must see! IMO - and not to mention, excellent bassage throughout, pretty low all the way through the movie...
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
