Merry Christmas to Me!

Stopped in at a local higher-end audio/HT store on the way home and picked up a slightly used Cambridge Audio Azure 640 CD player for a pretty good discount! Very sweet sound! It's making my SDA 2's sing pretty good! I had read a lot of reviews on these and was considering a new 540, but was able to get the 640 for even less. I guess I better finish up the kids Christmas presents now!

I was a little hesitant because my old Onkyo Integra CDP doesn't sound too bad and has pretty decent DAC's in it. But after listening to several other Cambridge Audio CDP's, I was amazed at the better sound. You never know if it is really the CDP or the room acoustics or the other equipment when you can't actually compare it in your own system. I have to say that I believe this player has enough hours on it to be broken in, and right out of the box I could tell a pretty significant difference between it and the Integra. Much sweeter, more transparent highs and upper mid-range, tighter low end. I think I'll be happy with this purchase!DKG999
