The subwoofer is plugged into a surge protector (expensive kind supposed to clean power)
Even though it is securley plugged, sometimes a VERY LOUD BURRING noise is heard when the power cable to subwoofer is touched...
JIGGLING the power cable cuts the noise off.
Subwoofer is seemingly working fine, but the SLIGHTEST breeze can cause the BURRING noise that scares the lights out of me.
(Sonds loud enuf to damage woofer and or get me evicted.

any thoughts on this?

p.s. ( I am DEEPLY in love with my new Polks and Denon reciever)

Sounds like a short to ground on the subs power cable, is it IEC? (removable?)

Well, I am not sure what u mean.
Obviously I can unplug it, and obviosly you know that, so cant guess as to what u mean when u say removable....

As to IEC, no, it wasnt inspected by the International Electronic Commission.

    IEC = International Electrotechnical Commision.

If the power cord is detachable, than it is an IEC type connection. It is basically an industry standard.

If the power cord is wired directly to the inside of the equipment....and you could only remove it if you dropped it off a building....it's not detachable, thus not IEC.

Steve is suggesting that you may have a power cable issue.

Before we go any further, what kind of power cable do you have?
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I plug into an AR surge... but power cable is standard North American.

Another thing, is this PSw10 a weak subwoofer?
Cuz I can hardly hear it all all.
I can tell a difference between it turned all the way up and all the way down,
so I know it is working,
but the difference is VERY minimal compared to what I expected.
(You really have to be up close to sub woofer to notice it.

I know something has to be wrong because this ps10 is at least the same size if not a little larger than my Yamaha sub that came with my old home theatre package and that thing put out 40 times more bass than this thing ever has.

SO maybe something is wrong with my new Denon?
they dont have forums there like here... sigh.
I bought the expensive one so it shoudl put out nice bass...

frustrating to spend over 2 1/2 grand in audio and not have any bass work or be able to find out why.

Welcome to the club. Basic question.

Have you gone into Denon's setup & told it you have a sub?
Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

    I guess so
There is a diagram on the Denon display that tells you how many speakers each "profile?" you use is currently being used.
So for 6.1 it shows a picture of center, floor fronts, backs, and sides and sub woofer.

Also like I said some power is going to the sub,
just not very much at all

If you unplug or twist the sub connection wire, do you still hear the noise ? I had a similar problem then once I change the wire, the problem is gone. Hope this can help.
