Subwoofer line level hook-up;

After all you Polk experts helped me set up my system last year things work and sound so good that I rarely even browse this board anymore. Watching too many movies! But I have stopped in now and then to see what more I could "glean" from the informative posts. Thanks.

My speakers are;

fronts; RT2000p
center; cs400i
rears; AB855

The receiver is sony STR-DE945.

The set-up I use is to set all speakers to "small", subwoofer to "on". The receiver has two subwoofer line level outs, so I run two sub cables(Transparent) to the line level in on the RT2000p's. This set-up sounds great but I'm thinking of adding one or two more sub-woofers to the system.

The question I have is this;
Can I keep everything set up the way it is now and simply run two more sub cables from the line level outs on the RT2000's? Would this reduce the output from the built in subwoofers in the 2000's?

I have the RT2000s and I have the output from my B&K going to the binbing posts with jumper in place. My sub is fed from the lfe output of my Denon 4802. Sounds great, more than enough bass. R, C, L set to large, surrounds to small.

Polk does not recommend the 2000s connected up like you have them. Neither do I.:p

Sounds like it's time to do some experimenting as you and others suggest. I think I'll start with your setup...the preferred polk way.

I'm very curious as to how the bass will sound now coming out of a dedicated sub verses the 2000s. With my current method, speaks all set to small, much bass and all LFE is aimed directly at the listener via those 4-8" bass drivers slightly pigeon toed in. It really hits. I guess what I'm wondering is... How much bass will come from the 2000s powered subs when I set up as you suggest.(R,C,L set to large, surrounds to small).

Also wondering if it's OK to put the dedicated subwoofer close behind the listener rather than towards the front of the sound stage as I've seen in the pictures of our boardmembers home systems.(great pics by the way)

Anyways, this "fine tuning" is a lot of fun when your working with a quality product like Polk!

i have my 1 sube to the left of the front seats the olny problem is i can tell where the bass is comeing from i am thinking of adding a seccond one. i would recomend to dasy-chain the subs go from the recever via lfe to the first 2000 then go from that one to the seccond one then to the sub or put the sub in any position in between the olny problem is you will lose your sterio bass but if you are going for ht this might work. or get one of these BAG END INFRA-18

Hi Lebois:

I have my sub slightly to the right and behind the right front speaker. The 2000s will put out a lot of bass on the large setting but you just adjust the volumn to the setting you prefer. Works great.
