Recieved my amp and speakers yesterday.
LSi9s and Cambridge Audio 640A amp. Good sound so far. I hooked up the free sub but realized it was ruining the sound and disconnected it. An SVS is in my future.
The LSis are better than the RTis especially with music that is fast paced (drum solos sound great) Violins, electric guitars, and horns on the LSis sound closer to the Linaeums on the Optimus LX550s than the RTis.
Amp is plenty loud enough. Everybody was trying to sell me on getting a 150wpc amp.

I also own a CA 640A and it's fantastic. It's a pretty robust piece if you take a look inside. I run a pair of Mission MS50's on it, and they sound perfect. It's underappreciated gear.
I've used it on my SDA1C/RTA12C/Monitor10A/LSi7/Etc and it never skipped a beat on any of them.
Great setup thus far Dmalino. Keep making good choices and you'll run out of stuff to do.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Sounds like the makings of a really nice system...No matter how I tried, I just did not like a sub in my 2-channel system (SVS 25-31). I loved it for movies, no doubt, but music takes priority in my system and I couldn't get the sub to "gel" with my towers.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I'm in the same boat Steve. I love the HT SVS, and like to play music on it, but never for critical listening.
The 2CH rig needs to be like a virgin, clean and pure.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

Thanks, I've also noticed that the new system makes my Skyfi sound lousy. I might have to try the Polk XM tuner.
I'm going to pick up some headphones this week. Maybe two pairs one for the Ipod, one for the home.
I did switch some of the binding posts on the CA with unused ones on the Sony. The CA had no provisions for banana plugs I could find. -
I'm using Bananas right this very moment....what are you talking about? If any manufacturer has a failing, it's having true 5Way posts....bananas always fit modern gear in my experience.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. I just figured out what was wrong, all of the posts had a black plug in them. No info in the manual about it. -
Hey Steve, doro -- I agree. IMO, my SVS sub sounded too boomy for 2-channel listening. I used to have a Hsu and it was a bit better. Now I have an Onix Rocket sealed sub. Sounds tighter and slightly better than the Hsu, but I gotta have a sub for 2-channel 'cause my bookshelfs can't go low enough for some music. Ideally, floorstanders wold be nice. I want to hear the whole spectrum of music, and bookshelves alone won't produce low frequencies well.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub
