Taking the Plunge

Well, I did it. Broke my cherry!

I ordered my speakers from Sound Domain just now. First time Ive ever ordered anything online.

The Mighty MM6 is on its way to my door and should be here by the end of the week! Woohoo!! I cant freaking wait!! $160 + $14.95 shipping. Unbelieveable deal. Thats has to be near cost!

Im just skeered tho. I keep reading these horror stories of people waiting months and not getting anything and being charged and all that. Gulp! :(

I hope everything goes well cause SoundDomain has some SMOKIN' deals on audio gear and I would like to order from them often.

Yippee! Now the waiting.........:(

Congrats man. I've had nothing but positive experiences with SD. Hope you get it quick. The waiting takes FOREVER! :)

Ya know whats sad? If Tweeter carried the MM6 and was selling it at $250 or so, I wouldve bought it there just so I wouldnt of had to wait. I wouldve paid an extra $100 just to not have to wait. Man I need patience.

Oh well, I can use the money I saved to go buy some 1/2" MDF to make some baffles.

And while Im waiting I can figure out where I want to mount the tweets.

heck, while you're waiting, you can start building your fiberglass enclosures for them. Use $40 of the hundred you would have spent... :)

    Um, no!

You really dont understand how lousy a craftsman I am. It all goes back to that no patience thing. If it all doesnt go perfectly the first time I get frustrated and in a hurry then mad and it just goes downhill from there.

A baffle I can handle. A simple sub box I can usually swing. Glassing? Id have my doors so disfigured it wouldnt even be funny! ;)

LOL! Ill just stick to the stock locations for now.

Besides, if I start glassing the insides and everything I wont be able to compete in the Stock class at MECA. I dont want to get in the Modified class cause thats when you get with all those dudes with $40,000 installs from the local shops and I wouldnt stand a chance.

Using stock provisions I like my chances.

We (Thom and myslef) have ordered many things off SD. They are great to work with and they are one of the few authorized Polk online retailers.

Im confident they will be. They have a top notch website which is a good sign. I ordered over the phone to be sure the order went thru and I got thru on almost the first ring! On top of that the operator, Jenny, sounded really cute! :D

Theyve got the MM2104 for $100 which is a sweet deal. But with a minimum of $15 shipping it may be cheaper to go to Tweeter and pay the full $120. It would only be a $5 difference of so.

I used my debit card yesterday for the first time to order my sub. I used to just use my mom's cc without being phased but knowing you just gave someone YOUR number really is kind of scary. Hope you like your mm6's

    WOOHOO!!! Theyre here!

Got home today and there they were (actually they left them in tha apt office)!

Its kind of wierd after staring at these things online for the last year or so and now Ive got them!

Theyre one hell of a heavy duty speaker. Im very impressed with the construction except the carbon fiber dust cap feels kind of cheap.

Im about to wet my pants to install them. No time tonight so Ill have to wait til tomorrow.

Now my biggest dilemma, where to mount the tweeters. Ive got OEM location in the dash and Im very interested in sticking there. My other choice would be the mirror sail.

Apparantly SoundDomain uses FedEx Home Delivery. No scratches, dents, tears, holes, smudges or nuttin'.

I must say, for my very first internet purchase Im very pleased so far anyway. Ill wait til tomorrow and see if they work. Then we'll see about the headache Ive gotta go thru.

Id probably pay up to $100 more just to buy it from a store and have it NOW!

Ill buy my sub from Tweeter even tho its $20 cheaper on SoundDomain. I couldnt pass up the MM6's tho. $300 speakers for $160 new and authorized!!

Yes their website pretty much sucks and just wait til you try to get hold of somebody!

Like I said, Im leary of them but I seem to be in the minority.

John claims to have used them for years without any problems and Ive heard rave reviews from others as well.

Play it safe and order it thru SoundDomain. That way if it does break youll have little problem getting it returned.

They do seem to be the most reputable of the non-authorized dealers but if you could get it from somebody authorized that would be the best. That way if anything went wrong it would be less of a hassle to get it sorted out.

Yes, HiFonics' website is kinda crappy, but they are actually easy to get a hold of. Call their toll-free number. I didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes, if at all, and their tech support, although slightly cranky, was very knowledgable.
Plus, I have been very impressed with my Zeus. I highly recommend them.
Second, I have heard good things about OnlineCarStereo.com and wouldn't hesitate to order from them.
