Could you please comment on this wire and suggest which would be suitable for my system. I am going to be using 12 guage all around. (Pick a part number if possible)

RTI100 (10 feet wire length)
RTi38 (30 feet wire length)
CSi40 (5 feet wire length)
Yamaha RX-V1500

I may be able to get it cheap here:

Thanks,
Michael ;)

You are looking at bulk cable, just go to Home Depot. Belden is excellent, but we're splitting hairs at this level. Get nice, large guage, OFC cable, and you'll start out just fine.

This whole question can get way out of proportion. Buy a solid baseline, then worry about the high end later when it comes to cables.

    Thanks for the info dorokusai.

My problem is that I am so new to this and the closest outlet for me is a Radio Shack that wants $150 for the same 100 ft roll of cable. I need to rely on remote ordering with some guy at the other end of the retail counter or an IP stream telling me "Oh ya, that'll be ok." OFC - I assume you mean oxygen free. Like anything new, the acronyms pause you to stop and research. I understand that the cable area is probably quite opinionated. Thanks for the help.

In case your are interested, look for Yellowknife on the map.

I get the segway, sorry, I didn't realize you were in the province. My eyes are failing...damn these second hand things.

I would get the best deal on OFC you can. I am a Belden fan, and it is the staple of almost 50% of all DIY cable design and construction, you can't beat that in my book.

Monster cable is sub par, overpriced wire not to mention the fact that they will/have sued any company that has the word "monster" in their name. Eff them and that pathetic twit Noel Lee.

Nope, nothing personal, just the truth. Do the research on both the sound quailty and business practices of said company.

    Guys,

I am so new to this that I have never heard of Monster, yet alone what happened to Candlestick Park. I just wanted some advise on cable from people who share a common interest and know more about the subject than I do. Thanks for the help.

I always thought that Monster cable was just marketing ****.
So I bought 3 different sets of cable looking forward to expose
Monster cable as a FAKE marketing tool. I really was not expecting
any difference at all. I did mention the differences in my crossover mod and polyfill dump post. In the begining I was using 12 awg OFC Gemini cable. BTW, the OFC claim really makes me wonder.
This Gemini cable looked like nice copper. After I hooked up the Z series Monster cable I was shocked to hear a night and day difference. My brother and his girlfriend were equally just as shocked to hear a difference. The Gemini cable was very harsh and with the Lord of the rings DVD at the same volume the Gemini cables caused my drivers to bottom out and clank like some $20 speaker. The Z series cable was free of that harsh sound and I could have it at a higher volume without showing any stress to the drivers. That is when I started using Monster cable:o I still think it costs too much and they remind me of another Monster called Microsoft:D

fwiw - I just purchased 3 Signal Cable speaker cables. (Front & Centre). Should take a couple of weeks to get them, so I will be curious as to whether I will notice a difference. Later!
