I came across this particular Japanese website while surfing audioasylum.com. Have no idea what the Japanese writing is saying but the photos are enjoyable....

Some of the brands may be unfamiliar to those outside of Japan. As far as I know....
Lo-D = Hitachi
Exclusive = Pioneer's high-end line in Japan
A&D = Akai
Optonica = Sharp
Victor = JVC
Diatone = Mitsubishi
Trio = Kenwood
Esprit = Sony, forerunner of the ES line

Just to show the Japanese still make some stunning separates....the Luxman DU-10 universal player

Great stuff, I've always loved the look of Japanese separates. It's too bad there almost none available in the US anymore.
Take a look at the size of the transformer in those Sansui amps. -

Unbelievable! it was designed in 1986!
The Nak PA70 used Nelson Pass from Threshold's STASIS technology.
When I listened to it back in about 1988 I couldn't find a sonic difference between the Nak and the GFA555 despite the sales guy at the shops protestations. The Adcom was half the price!
