RM7200 Sub hookup

I'm helping, my parents setup and affordable system for themselves, and they found a great deal on the RM7200 system. They are also purchasing a Sony STR-DE897 Reciever. The crossover frequency is not adjustable on this receiver. Is the recommended sub hookup still then to use the speaker outputs, and not the sub output? Is anything lost? Is it better to get a receiver that is adjustable, or is it fine to use the speaker outputs and adjust is at the subwoofer?

If they stay with the Sony, then yes, use the speaker wire method. Of course you could use this as an opportunity to get them into another brand...mu hahaha!

Thanks, that's why I'm asking. They already ordered it today, but could maybe change tomorrow. Is there any benefit to changing to a brand that allows them to change the crossover frequency? I mean do they really loose anything by using the speaker hookup method? From the docs on the web site it doesn't sound like it, but............. Or perhaps the fixed crossover is at the right point if the speakers are set at small. I've just never used this method. I have older RT55's with a PSW650 sub and don't have to worry about it.

I don't especially like the speaker wiree method. No sense putting anything extra between the amp and speakers. And it's messy. The crossover on the Sony is probably fixed at 80hz, which is too low for the 7200.
