1 sub or two?

Im pretty new to this stuff so sorry if this sounds dumb. I was woundering what would sound better/louder. Would a more powerful 12inch sub be louder than two less powerful 12 subs? This is for a single cab truck.

    i'd go with a decent pair of 10's personally... how much are you looking to spend on subs? do you already have an amp? how much are you willing to spend on said amp if you don't have one?

    your question is too vague, i have a 12" sub that will be louder than 90% of the 15s that are out there as well as a lot of the dual 12" subs on the market...

    Im willing to spend 200 for a sub/s, and up to 400 for an amp.
