I used a Soundcraftsmen amp years ago for the lower freq's on my 3.1's Was looking at the Crown K1 to biamp again. Has anyone tried one for the low freq's on a home speaker?

The K1 is no joke and harnesses some SERIOUS power. I'd be afraid to use that thing, seriously. I know a lot of guys use the K1 and K2 to run multiple high-end subwoofers.

According to Crown's website the K1 is rated at 350 wpc into 8 ohms and the K2 is rated at 500. Depending on which sda's you have I would think that those numbers would be ideal.

The Crown is nothing to be afraid of, use it with confidence.

Unless you can get one for a steal it really is overkill. Those are some pricey amps.

I use a new Crown XLS402A amp that does 270x2 @8ohms and 400x2 @ 4ohms and can be found for 1/3 to 1/4 the price of the K series. The transformer inside my amp is huge as well. The plus side with the K series is that they're fanless. You can seriously just disconnect the fans in the XLS series and never have to worry about anything, unless you plan on running it at 2 ohms stereo out in the sun

You can never have too much power. I run much higher wattage over most of the ratings in my gaggle of speakers and never a hiccup or whine.
