yeah i finally got it installed and i love it. so clear and loud, smooth, bass hits so hard and i just have it breaking in at 125 watts into the 400 watts subs. i have the gain like half on my amp for the subs thats why i kno its giving around 125.

Looks good! A few comments tho.
First, that amp is about perfect for those subs. They are 400 watt subs and that amp puts out over 600 watts at 2 ohms which means they are each getting a smidge over 300 which is perfect. Polk seems to rate their stuff at the breaking point so 300+ watts to a 400 watt sub will work it fine. No need to worry.
Second, the gain has nothing to do with how much power the amp is putting out. It matches your h/u's volume with the amps input. Say your h/u is at full volume at 25. If you have your gain set at 75% then your amp will be at full volume with the h/u at 15 and thus will start clipping and kill your speakers if you try to turn the h/u up passed 15.
The gain simply matches the amps input with the volume control so, idealy, if your h/u is full blast at 25 you set the gain so the amp is at about 95% volume at 25 so youll always have some power in reserve which ensures youre likely to never clip the amp.
If youre gain is set to half then its too high for a break in period and you should turn it virtually all the way down.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

alright thanks for the info. my amp was rated at 555 watts at 2 ohms. so it didnt make as much as you thought it would , but still over the rated. thanks man
also- if the subs gain is set at nothing (0) i noticed that it wasnt hitting hardly at all, like cant hear anything from it...and it was weak. you dont think that if theres no gain its not really breaking it in? i mean sht if the sub isnt doing anything but vibrating a little what is there to break in?Polk Momo MMC6500

I didnt mean to turn the gain all the way down just a long way below half way. When youre subs are broken in and you adjust your gain to normal listening levels, chances are it will be at the halfway mark or maybe even a little less. Having it turned up doesnt make it more powerful it only makes it reach full volume a whole lot sooner and once its reached full volume and you try to push it passed that itll kill your subs.
Performance Auto Sound mag did a review of the 500.1 and it put out a little over 600 watts at 2 ohms. I wasnt just pulling numbers out of thin air.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005
