hi guys
i finally did buy somthing that my wife was not realy happy about it,but i am sure after all instalation done she will hear it and will be happy.
well i bought yamaha HTR-5790s and lovely pair of monitor 7 and a CS2 as a center speaker with a pair of FXi3 and finally PSW10as a sub.
i am sure i will be happy ,especially for our familly that for last ten years have been listening to the old Technic stereo.
now comes the instalation with a lot of question for a new guy in a 7.1 sound system
1-should i use a pair of FXi3 as my surround speakers or as the surround back speakers?( for conection to the receiver), i do not know which one is the right one .even in manual is not clear.(my budget did not allow me to buy another pair to make it real 7.1 )
2-as for speakers cable; i got AR proseriesII which is 16 gauge .and for the sub i got AR HT152C cable. before i open them did i get the right cable for my system?or i should change them?
3-should i get digital cables for my conection from DVD to receiver and use RCA conection for my VHS and finally for my TV.
4-should i put the FXi3 speakers on Bipole mode or Dipole mode? what is the difference?
i hope i did the right match and right shopping ( according to my budget )
tomorrow after work i should finish all instalation so i do not want to make any mistake
any help would be appriciated

I'll take a stab at it.

    1- Surround back

2- You should be okay, unless you're the kind of person who always wants better.

3- Yes for the first part, and I'd use component video from the dvd (or receiver) to the TV if it's capable.

4- It depends where they are positioned in relation to the seating area. There's diagrams in the manual, but it's really up to you. I personally like mine on dipole. Just flip the switch back and forth and decide for yourself.

I hope that helps, good luck with the install.

P.S. It's only 7.1 if you have seven speakers.;)

Ummm, for number 1, if you only have 5 speakers (plus sub-woofer), you would connect the surround speakers to the "SURROUND" terminals of the HTR-5790.
    Win7 Media Center -> Onkyo TXSR702 -> Polk Rti70

    thanks guys
So i am definitly going to connect to surround conection not the back ones
for dipole and bipole i thought if i conect them wrong way i might blow up the speaker but now i understand them better
but it seems nobody gave me any suggestion regarding the match i made : is it good match or am i over powering or other suggestion.

I'm not familiar with the monitor line so I can't say with any certainty. If there is a mismatch it will be the fxi3s as they are a different line of speaker. As for over powering, I don't think you need to worry about that.
