...so, here's one that is inspired from slashdot about IT professionals and what they do as side jobs.

Answer 3 questions. Be as simple or as long as you like, who cares! You can give your reasoning behind the stuff too if you like.

Question 1: What do you do for a living? (Been asnwered many times before but keep it simple here because it's just a frame of reference)

Question 2: Do you have a side job? If so what do you do for that extra cash?

Question 3: Even if you already have a side job, what would your ideal side job be?

My answers:

Question 1: IT guy. Meaning, Systems Administrator/Database Administartor

Question 2: Off and on home PC support for those who ask. I don't advertise. I also do basic webpage development and volunteer at an ambulance squad and with the Boy Scouts

Question 3: My ideal side job would be something I enjoy enough that it would not be a chore for me to go to work for a measly pittance. I would either want to work in an audio shop as a salesperson or a part-time installer. The only other thing I would seriously consider doing is working in an automotive place selling car parts/stereos and/or installing said parts/stereos. Not retail like Pep Boys or AutoZone but maybe a speed shop or audio shop.

So what are your answers? Remember, nothing special, this isn't a real brain twister here.

    I'm a work ****.

    1. Electrical Engineer

2.a. Sears parts and service specialist (weekends)
    b. Modify audio components (only a few so far)
    c. Small electrical design projects for profit
    d. Ebay seller (only a few sales but am looking to expand)

    3. I guess I would like to do a lot more modifications like I did with the toshiba 3960's. That was a lot of fun.

You missed the real fun part for me. Making cash for toys! My normal salary keeps the house going, a car in the driveway, gas in the tank and food on the table. Not much left over for wants. EVERYTHING from extra jobs goes towards any whim I have at the time. Even during emergencies, that money is not available. Recently I was living day to day because of a small cash flow problem, still bought my plasma though... :D

Question 1: What do you do for a living?
Computer Engineer. I write diagnostic programs for a government-oriented computer company. Excitement beyond anyone's wildest dreams.

Question 2: Do you have a side job? If so what do you do for that extra cash?
I wish. I fix personal computers and stop VCRs from blinking for people, but usually for nothing more than a couple beers.

Question 3: Even if you already have a side job, what would your ideal side job be?
Tough one. Assuming pornography inspector wasn't available.... I kind of like installing all kinds of electronics... if only I could do it for money :) Also, if only there were ten more hours in a day.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Question 1- I have two part-time jobs, both in school districts working in their IT department.

Question 2- I do in-home computer work on the side. Have one local business that I work for consistantly, the rest are residential jobs.

Question 3- Pretty much what I'm doing. Either that, or be making enough money in Question 1 to be able to forgo the side jobs and just relax in the evenings.

Doro - lot's of money in both bad and good credit information. Several billion dollars per year of revenue. I've been involved in credit card marketing for close to 20 years, providing consultation to most of the large name-brand card companies. It's interesting, and the actual analysis and decision making behind the scenes would probably amaze you.

No kidding, that's some crazy information, thanks. I'll have to keep you in mind if I find problems as you probably know how to address fixes in the most efficient manner. We check our credit every year just to make sure all is well and correct. It's nice living in MD, because the reports are free.

Thank goodness the wife handles all that stuff, or I wouldn't have credit at all, haha.
