Yep...

I have 8 Fullrangers left!!!

So I have decided to use em all in a 4 driver tower.

I havnt thought up the name yet though!

Basically, I like the design I used for my computer speakers, so I took that design and turned it on its side and stacked it 4 times (basically). I also (not pictured) included a built in stand (not on purpose) - My bad/hurried math caught up with me! Haha! Anyways, heres the design idea..

Last DIY? I doubt it, you'll come back for more :)
Are you doing a slot port on the side? If so, good luck on making it look nice, my friend did a slot port for his box and it looks terrible, have fun with the project,

    And FWIW -

I won't be mounting the driver like that, I am going to be hitting the mounting holes with a router...

I want these to look NICE.

I am going to actually buy quick disconnects and terminals for this one!!! hahahahah

The problem with using full-range drivers in a vertical array is you'll encounter combing effects rather quickly, and with those drivers, probably around 4000hz (guessing). You should really read Dr. Jim Griffin's white paper on the topic of line arrays. He's the man on this topic. Here you go:

    Well I have them built...

All I have left to do is Route around the holes so the driver will just fall right in...

The teacher complimented me today on the build quality of the things I have been making, etc - very cool.

He said if I was going to take shop 2 that he would make sure I get in! Very cool!

Ah well, I should have them finished (hopefully) - by tommorow....

Hmm, today I 'chiseled' around the holes...

And much to my surprise, the drivers fit ALOT** better than I anticipated. Infact, I will need something to cover part of the holes I cut.

BTW - I chiseled around the holes since we had no router bits that I needed for this project...

Here is a pic with a driver layed in there...

Anybody willing to draw me a diagrahm of how to wire these things? 8 ohm each, 4 drivers, want to have 8 ohms in the end!

    Anyone? Thanks :)

Wire them two in series then those two in parallel. 8 Ohms is the net.

Just in case Sid doesn't understand series/parallel....

    (+) (-)
    (+) (-)

Wire from negative on speaker 1 to positive on speaker 2. Then use the positive from speaker 1 and the negative from speaker 2. Do the same for speakers 3 and 4. Then combine the +'s and -'s and you'll have 16ohm + 16ohm = 8ohm.

I wonder if these would work as my computer speakers...

I dunno, will have to see when I get my integrated in here and see if they will fit on my desk...

    *ponders*

These will certainly look ALOT better than my current computer speakers....

If they don't, take your desk to shop class and make it fit. ;)
Nice job on the speaks, they look awesome. Just curious, how far are you going to trim the rubber?

The last picture there, is good enough.

I plan on ordering some more grill cloth (pretty sure I will need to - I havnt wrapped the sub I built a while ago yet, so I'm not sure). After the enclosure is spray painted, and the grill cloth is applied. The rubber won't be able to be seen.

But I will still need to order some foam gasket tape to put around the drivers for a lil more help...

The way I cut the holes, they would have just dropped in (which is weird, because my first computer speaker project using this same exact design had ALOT of problems with the mounting. But, then again I didnt cut this one by hand on the bandsaw. hehe...

    Thanks!
