Screen Flicker when solid black on a rear-proj HDTV?

Just curious if someone has experienced this.
When my screen is very dark, I get a screen flicker ('white' light) that is mostly noticable on the black bars (if watching a DVD for example). Not sure 100% if it's carrying over to the actual picture... I can't tell if it really is or if it just appears that way.
My immediate reaction is that I might need to replace the bulb.

First off, the 51XWX20B is a 51" unit, not 52". Secondly, it's 238lbs of pure CRT based love. If you can find a bulb in there, you'd be an amazing man.

I had the same problem with my Hitachi 51SWX20B, had it serviced twice and the problem was still there. They couldn't figure out what was causing it. Ended up having it replaced with a 50V500, couldn't be happier. Thank god I got the CC warranty, had great service from them. Good luck.My Set-Up:

For DLP rear projection, there is a bulb. For CRT rear projection, there is no bulb. There are three CRT's (cathode ray tubes), each making a picture in red, blue, and green. Sometimes these are referred to as guns, or color-guns. Each CRT is very similar to a regular direct view TV except they only make one color each. The three images combine to make one color image. Just like there is no bulb in a regular direct-view TV, there is no bulb in a CRT RPTV.Go BIG or go home!
