Boat Stereo and Tuner Reception

Well know that winter is pretty much here, my dad and I are doing some work on the boat, you know, your maintenace and so on.
Remeber the stereo we put in, well now we need to allow the tuner to get a better signal. The receiver is inside the boat, which is where it has to stay, but could we get a diffrent antenna for our Denon AVR-2805, instead of the wire? Or is there something else we can do to get a stronger and cleaner FM signal?

Sure you could do a different antenna. But that means wire and sealing the penetrations, and don't for get it will need to be a marine design, or kept inside the cabin.

For FM, I have found in all my boats that attaching to metal trim or rails around the boat works the best. They give the most footage available and is invisible as an antenna. You may have to use a noise filter if the rails run close to engines, pumps or other electric motors.
Just from my experience, YMMV,

Thanks for the suggestion, we'll have to see what we can do. We'll probably talk to our local shop and see what they think. Got lots of time still, so not really in any hurry.Main System:

Don't know about the XM radio, it's up too my dad. Plus I don't know if it would really be worth it for the amount of time we use it, which is pretty much just weekends until schools out and then it is weekends and maybe 2 days during the week. Thanks for the suggestion any how, I mean you never know.Main System:
