My brother-in-law wants a cheap CD player for his car for Christmas. He's narrowed down to the Pioneeer DEH-1600 or this JVC KD-G300. Is there really any difference between HUs in this price range? Which one would he really rather have? I'm sorta leaning toward the JVC since it'll do MP3s; though, I don't know how much he'd use that.

Thanks.

JVC. I like the rotary volume nobs better than push button ones. Also, like you said, it does have the ability to play MP3's. There shouldn't be much of a difference in sound quality at this price range. It will come down to your brother-in-law's personal preference.

You're gonna find the same features basically in that range. One set of pre-outs at 2 volts, "50x4", etc. I prefer Pioneer, I have a JVC in my car, and I'm really pissed that I had to sell my Pioneer. Pioneer is easier to use and figure out.

Personally Id prefer the Pioneer. They just seem to have overall better quality.

My sister says he probably won't take advantage of the JVC's MP3 capabilities, so it sounds like the Pioneer is the choice.

    Thanks!
