CS 400i as main speakers

I am looking to upgrade some HT equipment and am thinking about using 2 CS400i's as front mains. Will this work? It is hard to find a pair of rt55's and the frequency response on the two is similar.

    Liquid Sound did/does this and liked the results

    He also used CSi40, which is relatively the same thing

    Your idea will work, but I think you will end up spending more on a pair of CS400's than you would a pair of RT55's. This is assuming you don't already have two centers.
    Most of the CS400's have been selling for around $200(+/- $25). RT55's are usually between $200-$300 for a pair.
    Right now, there is a of RT55i's at audiogon for $275obo(no affill). Maybe you could get them for a little less if you ask.
