Big Brother Polk

It seems that I got an email from the folks at Polk asking me to take a survery for marketing purposes and they would enter me into a contest and I might win something (fat chance). Anyways as the owner of a pair of 1.2s and a pair of 2.3s and a pair of cs440is that make up my main 2 channel and surround rig I am quite a loyal Polk fan so I started to fill out the survey. Well by the tenth question or so I had chosen not to give them my marital status or my income by checking the appropriate boxes. They then bounced me out of the survey. This struck me as a sad state of affairs and made me wonder what kind of profile they are trying to get from their loyal customers. Comments anyone?

Sounds like pretty standard stuff to me, trying to determine and narrow down what their customer base would be for a new table radio. It's Marketing 101 broham, what type of customer is most likely to buy what product - establishing a demographic.
Does it get marketed as a radio for the whole family in Better Housekeeping, does it get marketed as a Cool Bachelor-Toy in Playboy and GQ, does it get marketed as an Executive office rig in Money and Forbes?
I filled mine out, and did it honestly.

It kicked me off after 7 or 10 questions too. It appeared there would be like 100 questions and when it said I no longer qualified to complete the questionaire I was like, well, FU too. No biggie though.

same thing happened to me.I think they kicked me after how many children under 18 at home question.
You would think they would have kicked me after I said I wouldn't buy the radio:DMains:RT800i

Yep, booted me out too! I think it's because I was honest and stated I'd have ZERO interest in a table top radio. Not exactly what I'd call a balanced survey of their customer base. Pffft!!!Political Correctness'.........defined

i've yet to take the survey... but i expect the same treatment. to bad you can't complete the survey. since THEY did email us to participate, right?
they do want to know what their long loyal customers think, right?PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I have zero interest in a Bose wave stereo but a well priced Polk radio would have warranted a listen just for interest and loyalty. I got booted after the number of children question and I didn't even get a chance to enter my SDA table top radio comments.
I think they have an idea of their target market already and are filtering accordingly.
Guess I'm not entered for their draw?

You guys are Hilarious.
If you get BOOTED, it's to not waste your time any further with the remaining (now redundant) questions - you are however STILL in the drawing for participating.

hmm, I haven't gotten any e-mail about a table-top radio, but it sounds like I might be glad. I don't think I'd ever be interested in such a product, Bose or Polk.
I was going to rant and rave about how they can't find anything out if they only accept the forms they want to, but I just realized that they can determine the interest in such a product by how many surveys were finished i.e. how many surveys were filled out how they thought a possible customer would fill 'em out.
All well.George Grand wrote: »

Well, I gave 'em a 2 (I think, or something like 2 radio button from the left, for least likely) on buying a table top radio question, and BAM before I know it, I was on the pavement outside the bar!
btw, Russ, I don't think anyone who got booted, get to enter into the drawing.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -

You suuuure about that? They way I read into it you had to complete the survey and getting the boot would seem to me that one did not qualify for the drawing. It booted me also after the # kid question."Its worked so far but we're not out yet."

No biggie if I'm entered or not. I don't recall entering my email addy like the email mentioned though. Maybe they already have it based on the password/id used for the survey.
I'm more curious why having kids would cause me to be dis-inclined towards purchasing such a product (in their opinion).

There is nothing to fill out at the end of the survey, your email is linked to a database, via a code number in the link they provided.
Try and take the survey again, and see what happens.

Well, I'm just curious why it would disqualify anybody at all, does the opinions of all not account for anything? I guess I just cannot undrestand why age, #of children, or income should be reasons to kick a person out of a survey, should be a note that under certain conditions that you may or may not make it past a certain point in the survey."Its worked so far but we're not out yet."

I got all the way through. Just a bunch of questions about table top radios. Lots of questions. Not 25 minutes worth, but definitely a cup of coffee, and two smokes worth. Thank you for your participation!Go BIG or go home!

I started another thread on this unkowingly and am glad to see I am not the only one who thought this was somewhat rude. I just got an invitation to do another survey though so I guess my opinion must be valued but not listened to. Damn I got married to get this kind of treatment.

Polk needs to work on their main lines...
Not a clock radio...

I'm married, with 1 kid, and I got kicked out after the "number of kids" question. I answered NO interest in the product; Bachelors degree.. . Maybe my income level did it. Regardless, I'm not worried about it. That's just the way marketing works.
Wish they'd send me one of those XM tuners (and about a 3 year subscription) for my valuable input here on the Forum...:)

I got booted after income.

I got all the way through. Wasn't anything special and honestly if you are going to take offense to s market research survey then you need to go get some help or something 'cuase it's really not something to get so upset about. It's nothing more than gauging a market for the possibility of a "high end" table radio, not a stereotype of the whole human race. Lighten up people.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
