Anyone wanna ease my mind here for a second?
I got an H/K receiver today via UPS, and I got it shipped to work. So I walk in the door today, adn there the box is, in the shipping department.... laying on its side .
So of course I have to sit through work all day wondering if I'll get home and power it up only to find that laying a receiver on its side is tantamount to laying a fridge on its side-- instant death.
How resilient are these things in shipping? It's double boxed and all.... Someone tell me that they've kicked receivers around the room and never had a problem.

If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Receivers are fairly durable. If it's double-boxed and you don't see any obvious damage to the box--it'll be fine.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

If it's packed well and double boxed, it should be fine.

Well I opened it and didn't notice any superficial damage or anything. Like I said, just making sure they don't get internally damaged by being sideways / upside down.
I know, I know, stop being so damned paranoid.... :rolleyes:If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
They don't care. Upside down, sideways, etc, makes no difference. They'll even work upside down if you put a fan on them. It's not like a fridge full of compressor oil. Even then, an hour right side up, and they're fine too.Go BIG or go home!

Harman is a good company, and I'm fairly sure they would have done some drop tests on the boxed product. Everyone needs to prepare for UPSBrian Knauss

The oil in the compressor travels into the condensor/transmission tubing. It's not a sure death, if you get it back upright for a long time, but it ain't a good thing to do...
