could the added 'HG' possibly be a signature to denote a psw650 that was originally packed with the RM7600 HT package, for tracking reasons? did you buy this open box?

Yes i bought this one open box. I haven't hooked it up yet, but looks good with the Glossy finish. Iam moving to a new apt this weekend, so i will hook this one in the new apt

HG= High Gloss, maybe?? To match the RM7600?

    Or are they all high-gloss?

Yes the HG stands for high gloss. Polk made 2 Psw 650's in the begining. One was standered black vinyl and the other was the High Gloss for the Rm. They dropped the Vinyl model after about 1 year. Must have been a cost issue. HG looks better anyway.

Mine is only PSW650 without the HG and it's MDF wihtout the gloss. You got a pretty good price. I paid $750CDN for mine 2 and a half years ago when it first came out.

On seeing all these responses i feel very happy. Y'day i was just going around CC to kill time, but lucky to get this one and open box onkyo DS787 for my second room for $550.00. Iam planning to use the onkyo in my bedroom, now it is time to hunt for speakers :)

I think the PSW550 is what they are "matching" with the LSi series. It's only $100 less than the 650 ($550 for 550) and it has a rather "small" 8" driver with 100w RMS.

Expensive sub for such a small driver ;) hehe

for clean deep bass you got to have a big driver, and a big incloser. come on polk lets get it out, make something big and with a lot of power.
