I was just wondering how long it took for polk to send a replacement sub for those that have blown theirs. I blew mine 5 days after I got it listening to Nod Your Head from MIIB with JL 500/1 . How does the warranty work for the 3 yr plan ? If i blow it do they replace it no questions asked? Also I got the circuit city plan with them but since they aren't carrying these any more will they replace it with a momo or something else?

Just an update I didn't blow the sub but I did mess it up and something is loose now according to Tweeter. I took it to circuit city and they found one in a warehouse in another state so I'll get it soon. Yeah for buying a warranty.

Just curious but did those "audio professionals" talk you into getting a 500/1 for that MM2124? Thats about 150 more than its rated to handle!

Actually no I bought that of my own will. I was trying to find a good amp and I didn't find one with the exact power of 400 rms. Tweeter didn't trick me and I bought subs at circuit city which doesn't carry JL Audio. Plus got my amps used for $300 a piece so didn't burn a big hole in my wallet.

I gotcha. Tweeter sells the Momo subs now as well as JL amps and I dont think they are particularly knowledgable in car audio. At least not Polk products.

Most maunfactuerers rate their products conservatively but Polk seems to rate theirs right about the point of no return so its always best to stay a little shy of those ratings.

JL doesnt make a 300/1, its the 250/1 which probably puts out around 275-300 so yeah, that wouldve been about right.

At 2 ohms that will be too much. You will need to have your gain down. At 4 ohms how much will that be RMS ?

The P5002 is putting out 682 at 4 ohms mono or 2 ohms stereo. Youll be running it at 4 ohms mono with a single voice coil sub. That will be way too much power for the MM12 and will probably kill it. If you do run it keep the volume down.

I got CC to replace both my subs so I can start over fresh and not mess up this time. I'm getting a new HU too Pioneer 8600MP. Will have pics up later. Since I don't want to screw this up again how long do you recommend for the break in period? Should I listen to anything in particular to break them in? Will I ever be able to push them pretty loud considering I have JL 500/1 powering it?

i think the break in time is 40 hours. nothing imparticular, you just want something thatll move the cone. id turn the gain down as well during the break in period
