I came across this article on how to build a DIY projector - HD capable for $300. I thought it was an interesting concept and may just have to try it out and see how it works. I wanted to make sure that you all had a similar opportunity. (that way I have someone to ask questions of when I try and build one.. :D)

For a $40 bulb replacement and $300 HD projector, I guess it would be worth working around the heat issue. (they are also not the quietest things I have ever heard, but it would still make for a fun project with some decent benefits if you can get it to work.

Im not sure what your point is,but i know some overhead projectors like that put out alot of heat and some have a built in fan that would be a nusence if trying to watch a movie.

Edit: Fun to look at but if you are serious about spending $300 plus then look for an old used 3 tube projector on ebay. Most are not as bright as new ones but the pic quality is normally pretty good, especially if you feed them with a good quality signal. As a matter of fact, give me a shout and I'll let you have my old one for about the same amount plus shipping. :)

It looks like a cool project. While I won't actively seek the materials I will keep an eye out.

Wow. This is my first time seeing this. I have serious doubts about picture quality....but for $300 or less it would be fun to find out.

BTW. What's up with the cornerstone thing in this thread?
