I am new to the HT setup so please bear with me. I am setup for 5.1. I am using a Yamaha A/V receiver. What is the optimal setup for movies? Unfortunately the Yamaha manual is fairly limited. I know it all comes down to listing preference. But what is a good setting for the rears/front speakers.
I have the PSW350 sub, I have it set at 90hz. With the volume about half way. That seems to be sufficient for me.
Also do you fellas/gals listen to your TV in surround or do you use the main speakers with the center turned on?
Any help would be appreciated.

if you pick up the AVIA test disc and a SPL meter from radio shack, you can set all the speaker levels and then tweak to your taste from there. what other speakers do you have other than the psw350? i would assume, set all speakers to small on your reciever, but it depends it you have your sub running from the LFE output on your receiver, or wired through your mains? as for listening to TV, my cable runs through my VCR to the rec. and all sound comes from there. the TV speakers are off! and all channels are left on for viewing tv, surround included...

Thanks Juice. I will head down to RS today and try it out.

LSi7's, huh? Do they seem to work pretty well with your other equipment? Does the Yamaha receiver seem to have any problem driving them? Just curious.
Here where I live, most of the channels on my cable are still in MONO, so I just use the TV speakers for TV.

The Yamaha RX-V620 runs the 7's fine. Actually the receiver has the ability to switch between 4ohm's (which the lsi7's run) or 8 ohms. There is a switch on the back that allows you to chose.
The 7's sound really good. have been driving them hard all morning. No problems so far. And the receiver has yet to run hot (that I can notice anyways.)
Juice I do hace my psw350 running through my mains. Is that the preferred set-up? or should I run it through the LFE. I had it professionally installed, I observed so I know what was going on. -
i was just asking, in case you didn't know what to set your speaker's to. in your set-up, the front's should be large, and sub should be set to no, but you probably already know this if you had it installed...
