RT35 to LSi7 - Should be a big improvement right?
Just replaced my RT35's with LSi7's as fronts.
So far I must admit I'm a little dissapointed in what I'm hearing.
I kinda expected to hear the same, oh yea awesome improvement like when I added a Rotel 1075 amp to my Denon 2805. That was a real jump.
Do the LSi7's take a while to break-in? The RT35's had about 6 good years of break-in:)

The LSi7's sound like crap.
Until they break in for at least 75 to 100 hours.

I broke my LSi7's in for about 100 hours.
After that, they sound much better than my RT5's or RT35's.
I found a lot more detail in music, some things that I didn't even know were part of the song.Tschüss

The sound from the LSi7's was not as good as I was expecting until they broke in. I never tried to play them when I wasn't using them, but I did push them a little harder than ususal until they broke in.

Agreed on the break-in, give them time.
That being said, just because it is farther up the Polk food chain, doesn't mean you will like it better. Different strokes for left-handed people.

Thanks for the feedback.
Guess I'm just gonna have to show some patience here.

Speakers are a purely subjective choice; price, specs, model, are all meaningless. Just because the Lsi is suppose to be better than the RT, doesn't mean it is.

break-in on lsi's is no joke. my wife even noticed and, though she likes her music, i don't think she's ever once sat down and uh,looked for an image. one day a month or two in she mentioned that she liked the way i was adjusting the tone lately,.. i just looked at her sort of sideways, and smilingly, reminded her that we don't usually play with those around here.
your placement and room will have alot to do with it too. i'm settling in with my 9's up towards the middle of the room (between floor and ceiling) with alot of air around them.
experiment alot and save serious placement for a couple of months.

Steve is correct about it being subjective as to what you may "prefer". However, I don't think it is accurate to say that you cannot objectively determine what is a "better" speaker. Some person with hearing damage may "prefer" a highly inaccurate, poorly made speaker from a white van over some other speaker such as the RTi or LSi but that does not negate the fact that it will be an inferior speaker.System 1: Martin Logan Vantage, Rotel RC 1070, B&K Reference 200.2, Music Hall DAC 15.2, Yamaha 2300

Get the LSi 9's if you're hooked on the LSi series, it's the best of the lot.......IMO.Political Correctness'.........defined

I still think the LSi7's are the best. Didn't care much for the 9's...
