why would you leave it on for 15 + hours not being used? I turn all my gear off..

wow you use your gear for 6-8 hours a day?

Its all personal preference, some say its better to leave it on, some don't.. I don't leave my car idle all night though so i dunno :D

Electronic equipment, although having a long life span, does have a life span. To be safe, I would shut off the equipment to make sure the thing lasts the entire time you want it to.

Personally, I leave most everything on. I do have the Outlaw mblock I have set to turn off automatically. But my Crest Audio does not have that feature or a remote. So to turn it on, I have to get my lazy butt up off the couch ;)
If I turn off/on my pre-pro (AVR), it causes a loud pop occasionly which is not good.
So, I just don't deal with it and leave it on.

Regarding opinions I've heard about leaving electronics on, supposedly if you turn them off and on they heat up and cool down and thus expand and contract. Over time I've heard the various circuits could loosen their connections via this process. Whether or not that is true, I don't know. If the piece of electronics has a fan, the downside to leaving it on is the fan could prematurely wear out.

I agree with faster100 said, personal pref.
