Well, the year's coming to an end. What few releases would you guys say were the best of 2004?

Mine would be Nightwish (Once) and Therion (Lemuria/Sirius B) Both are amazing bands with new albums that blew me away.

Breaking Benjamin - We Are Not Alone

Definetely a HUGE step up from their last CD and definetely was more thought out...

    Excellent CD, IMO

Don't think I bought a "new" release in 2004, unless you count one "selection of the month" BMG sent me 'cause I did not waive them off in time. I did send it back though...
    More later,

The only "new" albums I've bought that came out in 2004 are:

    Brian Wilson - Smile

Jimmy Buffett - License to Chill

    Todd Rundgren - Liars

Big Head Todd and The Monsters - Crimes of Passion

    Mark Knopfler - Shangri-La

The Brian Wilson album leads the pack. I have not opend the Knopfler CD yet but it would take a very good CD to beat out Smile.

The interpol album is good, but too polished compared to TOTBL.

    Check out Snow Patrol sometime.

My vote goes to Mark Knopfler - Shangri-La on SACD. It different than his Dire Straits days, not as rock n roll, but an excellent performance and recording.

I didn't purchase anything new in '04, but would be interested to hear what songs are on "Smile", the long awaited album from the REAL King of Pop.

I was a little disappointed with "Pet Sounds" and liked an awful lot of stuff from "Imagination".

Although none of you like rap.

Nas - Street's Disciple is definately a well thought out album.

The Nirvana box set is although worth a look but I don't think that qualifies.

I liked some of COF's stuff in the past, but Danny Filth get's REALLY annoying to me after he tries to have a deep voice then screeches like a bat. I prefer Dimmu Borgir hands down over COF, but even Dimmu's sound hasn't been to my liking with the latest CD.
