80Hz HPF on upper driver:
driver #1 (bottom) 2nd order LPF @ 1.2kHz;driver #2 (upper, near tweeter) 2nd order LPF @ 2kHz, 80Hz HPF.
Hmm, something just occurred to me. Part of the reason you've noticed an improvement in audio quality is because the RT3000p crossover uses better quality components. I read this in the Polk literature somewhere. So now an interesting comparison would be to upgrade the RT800i crossover to higher quality components and compare it to the RT3000p crossover. It probably won't sound as good as the cascaded array, but it might produce an overall more satisfying sound due to having fuller bass. Who knows.

Yes the HPF is disconnected at this point. At this point I have the same low end extension that I had with the factory xover. The new cross over does have better components (mylar)and a much more sophisticated network. The bass is thumping but as I have said in previous posts I am not concerned with a lack of bass from the 6.5 driver I am concerned that when driven down low the bass overpowers the higher frequency causing the sound to muddy. To prevent this from occuring I plan on replacing the 80Hz HPF to the upper driver and allow the lower driver to cover the low end. This should prevent the muddyness because the while the lower driver is covering the low end the upper driver can be free at 80Hz and up to cover the midrange.
Now if I really knew what I was doing with electronics I could design a xover from scratch to do exactly what I wanted it to do rather that tinker with this one. I am going through the learning process right now and have been lucky so far. -
I re-installed the 80Hz HPF on the upper 6.5. Now the lower 6.5 gets full frequency to 1.5 Khz while the upper 6.5 get a frequency from 80Hz to 2 Khz. I am going to try this configuraiton out for a while. The bass is not as pronounced with this setup but the clarity is not being degraded from the upper driver when driven low. The bass remains punchy and tight with out muddying the midrange frequencies.
