Ultimate Demo DVD

Hey, so I bought a DVD burner. Double format and dual layer. Oh yeah.

Anyways, I was thinking instead of hauling around a big thick wallet of DVDs into stores to demo their speakers or whatever, I would burn the chapters off each particular DVD I would normally select. So, this way it would all be on one DVD, one after another.

Furthermore, I was thinking if I could get some help selecting the chapters from particular movies and you happen to own the movie the chapter came from I could burn some discs, mail them out, and make this a group thing.

Anyone interested?

If so, lets get a list going of what chapters everyone would want on the DVD. I was even thinking a bass/subwoofer DVD, a surround effects DVD, and a combination between the two.

Anyways, run with this. Let me know what you think and throw out some chapters you would be interested in.

Peace!

No, I did, but that sounded like more of a trade/demo program. I also assumed that was another DVD for purchase. I am offering to make a custom DVD that we all can agree on. For those of us who could care less about THX cows. :)

Not for sale, just a free demo like the cable swap program. Hey, the THX cows have great surround effects and bass! Moo!

Yeah, so, the deal is here, we all collectively pick what we would like on a demo disc, and I can send it out to you, for keeps.

a buddy of mine at work just got a Pioneer DVD burner that does dual layer and all that jazz. He's doing exactly what you're doing, I only have to pay for the disk. It'll work great at work.

Toxis, I probably have the same burner as your buddy.

If it will let me, it will be jumping between dts and DD.

I'm in... Shizelbs, happy to send a couple bucks to cover materials and shipping cost

PT's list has a lot going for it, but the wrong SPR scene, at least for bass. It's the Panzer scene near the end of the movie that they "sticky sock" that rocks...

Although there are always worthy additions, e.g., some Hellboy material, we've generated several "DVD Bass" lists over the past couple years. I'll get my search on and post links.

I don't remember seeing a surround sound demo list so that'll be an interesting exercise.
    More later,

    I'll add sticky bomb!

I used Omaha Beach because of the heavy surround usage which makes it good demo material.

I agree, Omaha is better surround material than bass.

Lets get this list going. I gotta get my DVD shrink skills a little bit better too, but, I'll figure it out.

    Finding Nemo: Darla glass tap
    Matrix: APU fight scene
T2: First big step in the beginning
Minority Report: Pulse gun in factory

Thats the start, but it'll make a lot of progress this weekend.

    Keep 'em coming.

    Hi all,
I don't post a lot of replies (since I don't know probably as much as most of you) but I do once in a blue moon. So some of you may know me and others may not.
Anyway, I'd definitely be interested in the ultimate demo disk if including me is a possibility.

    A nomination...
    - Swordfish: scene 2 (Explosive wrong move.)

If music dvd's are of interest to anyone (I know it is for me)
    - Norah Jones Live In New Orleans: track 12 (I've Got To See You Again)

I'd be willing to supply whatever needed. Just let me know.

I personally haven't experienced that scene from Swordfish. I did manage to catch the Halle Berry scenes for some reason though. Odd.

Anyways, anyone else interested in that scene?

So, I've been tinkering with DVD Shrink. It looks like its going to work really well. I tested out a DVD and it will play switching back and forth from DD to dts to DD and so on.

Next step will be to rip all the movies onto my computer. I'm just glad I have 260gigs on my computer.

    Keep the requests coming!

the opening battle scene from Gladiator...there's not alot of bass, but it's one of the most overall impressive scenes I've seen...I've coaxed three people into HT using that scene alone...

If thats the most common DVD player format, it's cool with me. I have a "Old" DVD player so I most likely have to buy something first for me.

    Disney,

My guess is that you should be fine with what player you have. +R works fine in my player, which I believe came out before any +/- standard was established.
