Hi,

I'm a new owner of some 2nd hand RTA8TL floorstanders (2 x 6.5 inch woofers, 1 x 1 inch tweeter) and was wondering when they were first released and when they went out of production?

Also what's the availabilty of spares like?

Help, I'm new!

Hmmmm.. well, I'll give it a shot at providing some info:

    Manufacture Years: 1990 - 1992
Description: PORTED, (2)8" WOOFERS, (2)6.5" MIDS, 1" TWEETER
    RTA 8TL - Tweeters: SL2500 Mids: 2x MW6516

If by "spares" you mean replacement tweets and drivers, here's a link (with a phone number at the top of the table) to replacements. Not all listed items are always in stock or still available. Call the number for more info and introduce yourself as a club member for discount pricing.

    BMDP is steering you correctly.

If you can, please post a couple pics of your 8tl's...

Thanks heaps for the warm welcome :)

I'll take a pic when I recieve them on Thursday.

Looks like there is an excellent range of replacement parts.

    Another question:

What center channel would you recommend? (I was looking at the CSi40, CSi30 but may not be available anymore or the current CSi3)

What surrounds? (I was looking at the R15)

I have also found out the specs:

How important is voice matching to you? If it's very important I'm sure you can find the other speakers in the series that go along with your floorstanders on this forum, if you don't care as much about voice matching, it's up to you what you want to pick.

I don't believe the 8TL's have 2 8" woofers. My RTA 8T's are described as above.

When I rebuilt by 8T's I do recall some availability issues with 8TL parts because I was considering the upgrade. Call Ken and ask because this was a few years ago.

I ran my 8T's with a CS400i and it was real good. Not much difference between the 400i and the 40i but then again I'm deeeeeeeef

Those 8" woofs on the RTA8's are "stealth" woofers. They're SOOOOOOO stealthy............ they're not even there.

Then, I'll bet Polk has a large inventory of them. :p
