Which Sub to buy?

I need advice on which sub to get. CC has the 202 for $99.00 on closeout and, I know this is weird, but a sony wm250 sub for $84.99. My issue is that I am looking to buy a new sub but only have around 100 bucks. Will the 202 be a better deal than this sony? I know of all the past issues with the 202 but I trust polk's customer service if I ever have a problem, I am wondering which sub would have the best value/sound combo.

Here is the link for both:

thanks

Mike

Around 1900 cu ft so a medium-ish room... Any open adjacent areas? If yes, that adds to the volume of the listening area...

Both are entry level, neither dig deep, depending on the mains and electronics you have, you may or may not notice a distinct improvement.

Can conject further on the impact either may have, but if you can, order both and return the lesser one...

If it helps, I have the 202 and the sony m500 (12"), and the 202 is better IMO. It is not as loud, and does not go as low as the sony but I prefer the sound and appearance of the 202. I also had the amp fail and it was replaced for free.

Nevermind.......I picked up a PSW404 for $179 open box. This thing is in perfect shape, looks like it was never used, the store manager said it wasn't even used, was on display but not even hooked up to anything.

I am grinning from ear to ear.

    AWESOME!!!:D

Good deal Mike. Don't forget the most important part, calibration.

    PolkThug,

I couldn't believe that I got this for 179. The thing still smells brand new (as with any open box, I smell the speaker for any internal damage, etc)

I definitely will calibrate...I'm gonna buy one of the calibration discs tomorrow. Right now I am just enjoying the fact this thing is in my house.......

Great pick up! That's an awesome sub and worth every bit of $400 IMO, and for $180... dear god. Good stuff!

Talk about being in the right place at the right time on this one.... Here is the story: I went into the store with the intent on buying the 202 for $99 on clearance. I go to where the subs are and look at the 202. Then I started looking around at the other subs and see a 404 for $179 open box. What? Holy Sh.t. Ok check out the 404 has a few minor scratches on top, grill had a slight pull in the fabric. Said ok no big deal it looks solid. Lightly pushed the woofer to check for any sign of damage and then (here is what I was referring to regarding smelling the driver) the driver appeared to have no voice coil damage (burnt like) smell. Ok let me ask the sales guy if he can take a few dollars off for the scratches. Sales guy says let me page the manager. While waiting for the manager to come by, I went into another showroom and they had another 404 that was perfect. No scratches, not even plugged in. They were asking $229 for this one. Manager comes by and we recognized each other from another store (same company). He said $179 was the lowest he can go. So out of curiousity I told him about the other 404 display model that was brand new and he said ok, he would give me that one for the same price. I said, where do I sign, I'm picking this thing up right now.
